As we have mentioned before, models need to be checked to see if they are valid enough to use them or not. Also simulation need to be checked to see if they are accurate enough prior their use for predicting scenarios. For checking a simulations accuracy, the simulations need to be run with known data and known results and thus providing the capability of checking the simulations results. For example, if my simulation is for birth rate, then I need to test it before with data from past years and check if its working. Also to check the results of a air-flight simulation, I need to verify the results of the simulation (and the simulation itself) with a real pilot.
